HOUSE DJs DON’T TAKE REQUEST! But.. I do :)
by Co Flo on Oct.23, 2009, under General
Hear your Tracks on FLO RADIO
Make a request!
Do you listen to FLO Radio (I hope so). For those of you who do, I have been getting hit up with request to play certain songs etc.. In general House DJs don’t take request while actually playing – good thing I’m not a DJ (at all) haha.
I would like to open up FLO Radio to everyone that tunes in and ask you to send in some songs that you would like to hear. Please make sure to send me title, artist and mix you would like to hear. This is because I can’t figure out what song your requesting if you say something like, “you know that one song where the girl is singing – i love you, da da da, la la” – you know what i mean right?
If you have an entire list of songs you would like to hear throw them at me and I’ll make an entirely selected mix by you. There are alot of dancers out there that know alot of good music and they select the fire! Im giving you the opportunity right now to let me put together what you would like to hear.
If your with it – go ahead and email me using the link below.

House Dance Conference SF – Recap and Updated Videos!
by Co Flo on Oct.13, 2009, under Dance
House Dance Conference 2009 San Francisco! This event was not to be missed, for those of you who did – just ask somebody (enough said). Although its been a week since the event, the timing is appropriate that we give props to those of you who came out and made it happen. In the words of Brian “Footwork” Green him self, “The House Dance Culture is about the love and togetherness” – HDC SF was the perfect example of like minded people coming together for the love of music and dance. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of you who supported – we will certainly do this again. Much respect to the dance crews who showed the conference love: FLO-ology, Soul Sector, Vibe Tribe, Open House, Renegade Rockers, Head Hunters, House Shoes, Dance Fusion, Supreme Soul, FLOorganics, Soulshifters, Beats-N-Pieces, Fresh Dynamix, DS Players, Groove Mechanix (if I missed your crew, i didn’t mean too we got love for all!). Major props to all of our contestants that entered the comp and a big and justified congratulations to Ritchie from Open House in LA for taking home first place and $500! A very special thank you to Brian “Footwork” Green for allowing us to host and organize the San Francisco chapter of his House Dance Conference. Keep coming back to MindBodyFLO.com for more info on the next House Dance Conference SF (It will be bigger and better we promise!).
Make sure you check out the video archive of all the prelim’s, battles and showcases. http://mindbodyflo.com/video

Fusion Movement Class by Tsunami (Soulshifters/FLO-ology)
by tsunAMI on Oct.12, 2009, under Dance
Tsunami will be teaching a weekly class to share a variety of techniques from her own experience ranging from Ballet, Modern, House and Freestyle to name a few!
East Bay Arts High School – Tuesday Nights 7:00-8:30pm

About Tusnami:
As San Jose native, Tsunami has performed and shared her passion through dance and movement for over 25 years. Formally trained and national champion in classical ballet, lyrical, tap, and modern, today she embraces all aspects and styles of dance. Tsunami’s versatility for movement shines through in house, b-girling, hip hop, capoeira (brazilian martial art), as well as holding national and world titles in artistic roller skating.
In the early 90’s she began her journey into the underground House and Hip-Hop scenes in the San Francisco bay area. Here is where she began to blend and experiment her classical training with a more free and abstract range of movement. House music became a passion and a natural release of energy for her to express emotion through rhythm and dance. She performed for 4 years as a San Jose Saberkitten (Arena football league) and taught ballet, tap, jazz and urban dance at Dance Academy USA in Cupertino for children ages 3-16.
Tsunami left the Bay Area for about 10 years to seek an education in Architecture and explore the dance scenes of San Diego, Los Angeles and New York. She received her Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2004 from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. At this time she studied the dialogue of b-boying/b-girling, trained consistently in capoeira, performed and taught with Culture Shock NY and continued her growth within her own freestyle. Being solely independent from a young age she worked full-time through college and learned the true value of determination and setting goals. Her most important goal was to find and keep a balance between her two passions: Architecture and Dance. She has taught, competed and performed on both the West and East coast, danced in music videos for DJ Colette and The Pink Spiders as well as toured throughout the Netherlands.
In 2007 Tsunami returned to the Bay Area and is currently working as a Project Manager for a small Architecture firm in Los Altos designing custom homes and preparing for her exams to become a licensed architect. She is also currently working with FLO-olgy doing performances and event coordination for MindbodyFLO.com. She is looking forward to teaching classes at East Bay Arts High School to contribute and create an outlet for arts education, cultural unity and to educate the value of technique and self expression.
Each class will offer something new: focusing on musicality, versatility, use of space, rhythm and style. Tsunami believes that classic dance technique is a critical element for developing strength of the core, posture, poise and can be infused into today’s urban dance styles. Theory, history and vocabulary will be a part of each class.
So what are you waiting for!!!! Come check out a class!

FLO Radio Vol. 47 – Inspired by Cecil
by Co Flo on Oct.06, 2009, under Flo Radio
For those of you who didn’t attend HDC this past Sunday – it was a fantastic event! Cecil (the Peoples) was our headline battle DJ and party starter. He truly inspired me as a dancer with his music selection and energy that he brought to the decks. The songs I chose for this mix were a reflection of what Cecil gave to me this weekend!
Thanks for the hotness brutha!
